"This papercut honors the traditional foodways of Appalachia, namely growing a garden and processing the harvest. The central hands hold paring knives mid-task, blades turned inward toward the palm—the kind of cut you trust only after years of practice, the confidence to core a tomato or trim a potato right in your hand. Inspired by a steamy canning kitchen in late July, overflowing with fresh garden produce, it celebrates my Memaw, all the kitchen champions before her, and those still keeping these ever-important traditions alive."
