The Story
This is a timepiece born of craft, grit, and a shared reverence for storytelling.
Created in collaboration with longtime Weiss client Tyler Childers, the Snipe Hunter is a nod to Appalachian roots and rituals. It is an homage to the playful mystery of the woods, the thrill of the search, and the quiet reward of tradition.
The 38mm case is machined from 316L stainless steel, housing a richly textured deep green dial inspired by the Appalachian landscapes that shaped Tyler’s music. Applied numerals, each outlined in vibrant orange, bring contrast and depth to the design. A matching orange seconds hand and Black hands with BGW9 Superluminova minute markers evoke the high-visibility tones of backcountry trail signs and hunting gear.
The watch is paired with a rich, chestnut-toned strap made from Buttero Reserve leather, sourced from Conceria Walpier, a family-run tannery in Tuscany, Italy. Known for its firm structure, smooth finish, and exceptional patina, Buttero is vegetable-tanned using eco-friendly methods, a perfect match for those who value both craftsmanship and longevity. The strap is hand-stitched in Nashville, just a mile away from the Weiss workshop.
The watch is fitted with this hand-stitched leather strap and features a date window at six o’clock. Each timepiece is handcrafted in the Weiss workshop in Nashville.
"I always had Weiss in the back of my mind -- like, 'one of these days, I'll get a watch.' When I decided I was going to get sober, I told myself, if I made it a year, I'd get me a Weiss watch. So, after a year, I ended up getting this watch."
Cameron Weiss learned that Tyler was a client when our longtime friend and client, Nashville photojournalist Ray DiPietro, spotted him walking his Malinois puppy in downtown Nashville, wearing the very Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch: Latte Dial Ray then photographed, and Tyler has worn for years. Ray, who we first met in 2016, has become a close friend of the family and brand, and through that organic connection, this collaboration naturally came to life.
Tyler visited the Weiss workshop to meet with Cameron in person, and together they designed something honest, enduring, and uniquely American.
Packaged in a custom Mossy Oak–branded pouch featuring the iconic Greenleaf Pattern, with Weiss stamped in bright orange, this release is as collectible as it is wearable. This is a tribute to craftsmanship, community, and the stories we carry along the way.
